[A smart wife and a foolish one]IDX

There was a man who did the sugar business during the year.
Every night, his wife would steal one or two catties of sugar (from him)
and hide in stock.

In the year end, the price of sugar rose up very high.
The husband said:
"This year in the year end the sugar rose to a high price,
Regretfully I have no money to replenish the stock.
If I have, I will be able to make big money."

His wife hearing so then handed out the sugar to the husband
which she had hidden in stock during the year.

The husband asked her:
"Why do you have the sugar?"

The wife then told the truth to the husband:
"This is what I stole from you and hid in stock every night."

The husband got very happy, and really made big money.
On the road, he met a man who sold the calendar.
(He) told the man how his wife had stolen sugar (from him) every night,
and stocked it up to seven or eight hundred catties.
Now the sugar is in good price.
Therefore this year I got to make big money.
(He) told every detail to the man who sold the calendar.

The man who sold the calendar returned home,
and told the story to his wife.
His wife then kept it in heart.
Every night she also stole ten odd rolls of calendar from her husband
(and hid them in stock).

At the year end, the husband lost his capital and had no money to
pass the New Year's Day.
His wife then turned out the calendars to the husband
which she had stolen and hidden in stock during the year.
(She) told her husband to sell them around,
to get money for passing the New Year's Day.

The husband seeing so got very angry.
The wife was beaten almost to death by the husband.
